Angelika Jelich is a german painter.  She is known for her expressive paintings and transparencies.
“I’m always interested in exploring new topics from my point of view. I don’t like to limit myself to one kind of art. Life is too diverse and exiting, I always find new subjects that are too interesting to let them pass.”

Jelich is influenced by the work of the American painters Joan Mitchell and Elaine de Kooning. On the basis of the landscape painting in collaboration with the painter Bernhard Krug she emancipated herself from it and got to a colorfulness and spontaneous setting which is uncommon in Germany.

Her view of the world is feminine and in its spontaneous gesture equal to the American role models. She has developed her transparencies independently of Robert Rauschenberg and made a name for itself. She is still – like the English artist Rose Wylie – an insider’s tip. Angelika Jelich lives and works as a freelance artist in Münster and Long Island, New York. (Curator Klaus Tesching)
